PRESS RELEASE
Sydney, 21st November 2007
“PRODISC HD Solutions Centre”
PRODISC Systems (Australia) Pty Ltd is pleased to announce its Sydney based, multi application PRODISC HD Solutions Centre operational as of Monday, 26th November 2007.
PRODISC Systems has had a long involvement in developing optical disc applications from early 1992 and has demonstrated CD-R, CD ROM, Video CD, DVD and HD VMD solutions widely at Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE), AES, PC Show, Digital Media World and Data Imaging exhibitions over the last 15 years.
Prior to and during the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games whilst PRODISC was installing the first PRODISC standard definition (SD) V-Box interactive video delivery systems, Ray Henman A.C.S., freelance D.O.P. and John Bowring A.C.S., C.E.O. of Lemac Systems, were pioneering early HD location acquisition with the prototype Sony HDW 900 P HD camera.
Even with the advantage of very high bit rate, professional 10bit serial digital broadcast quality SD hardware compression, PRODISC was already well aware of 576P limitations and the need for much higher resolutions in acquisition and post production for more life-like interactive and DVD Video delivery and eventually teamed up with Ray Henman in authoring his independently shot and produced “This is High Definition” title for key content in the PRODISC vLink Test DVD, first screened at Hayden Orpheum Picture Palace, then at SMPTE 2003 at the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre Darling Harbour (SCEC).
Since then, PRODISC has continued in its quest for logical and affordable HD disc solutions by providing local technical and marketing support for HD VMD, a current technology red laser based HD optical disc technology (developed by NME Inc, London) providing 1920 x 1080 HD video quality at a fraction of the cost of the two blue laser formats. A very successful PRODISC demonstration of the NME, HD VMD format was enthusiastically appreciated by many hundreds of delegates and visitors to SMPTE 2007 at SCEC, July 2007.
The strong interest from film and broadcast professionals in this fledgling format was further enhanced by the technical quality of the PRODISC produced full HD samples of recent motion picture releases playing from the AU$299 HD VMD red ray player.
The PRODISC HD Solutions Centre will provide both HD content compression and authoring services for E-Cinema projection and all HD disc formats (Blu Ray, HD DVD, AVCREC, HDREC, BD9, 3XDVD, HD VMD), broadcast, interactive, multimedia and gaming projects, along with a range of standalone HD disc players representing all three HD disc formats: Blu Ray, HD DVD and HD VMD.
Initially a small range of HD disc players from Sharp, Toshiba and NME will be available at very competitive e-commerce pricing (Blu Ray from $589, HD DVD from $486 and HD VMD from $289), but a wider range will soon be available, including HD REC + AVCREC PVRs and integrated digital HD broadcast receiver/players etc.
Also available will be promotional basic authoring and pre-mastering packages for up to 30 minutes of full HD Video content (supplied on HD CAM or HD CAM SR masters) for Blu Ray from $950, HD DVD from $750 and HD VMD from $450. Please visit www.prodisc.com.au for company background, but technical enquiries and information requests relating to feature length projects should be addressed to operations@prodisc.com.au.
PRODISC will also be offering keenly priced HD duplication and replication options for Blu Ray & AVCREC, HD DVD & HD REC and HD VMD or raw codec files with bulk replication of Blu Ray from AU$2.17, HD DVD from AU$1.99 and HD VMD from AU$1.34.
PRODISC is also proud to announce a full range of premium HD recordable media (by following this link) and HD compatible DVD-/+R media (by following this link).
